What you need
- A list of this week’s vocabulary words (in the printable kit) or any word bank you’re reviewing
Setup
Pick a "answerer" — you, or a student who already knows the secret word from a card you hand them privately.
How to run it
- The answerer secretly picks (or is handed) a word from the current vocabulary list.
- The rest of the class takes turns asking yes/no questions to narrow it down ("Is it a noun?", "Does it start with a vowel?", "Does it mean something happy?").
- Track questions asked on the board; the class gets 20 questions total before someone has to guess the word outright.
- Whoever names the correct word becomes the next answerer.
Variations
- Lower the question limit to 10 for a faster round once the class gets good at strategic questions.
- Play in small groups simultaneously, each with their own word list, for more turns per student.
